Zoom F6 6-Channel Multitrack Field Recorder: Professional Audio Anywhere
The Zoom F6 Multitrack Field Recorder brings professional production audio into a compact field-ready package. With six locking XLR inputs, 32-bit float recording, dual AD converters, ultra-low-noise microphone preamps, advanced limiters, and precision timecode, the F6 is built for filmmakers, production sound teams, videographers, and location recordists who need reliable multitrack audio in demanding environments. Its compact design, multiple power options, wireless control, and ability to function as a USB audio interface make the F6 a versatile production tool wherever the job takes you.
32-Bit Float Recording with Massive Dynamic Range
The F6 combines 32-bit float recording with dual AD converter technology to provide an exceptionally wide dynamic range without relying on traditional gain staging. Record up to six channels of 32-bit float audio at sample rates up to 192kHz, capturing everything from subtle dialogue and ambience to demanding sound effects while helping protect against clipped recordings.
Six Professional XLR Inputs
Six discrete locking XLR inputs provide the connectivity needed for multitrack production recording. Each input features a dedicated level control, microphone and line-level operation, up to 75dB of microphone gain, and switchable +24V/+48V phantom power. The F6's high-quality microphone preamps deliver an equivalent input noise specification of −127 dBu or less, providing a clean foundation for critical location audio.
Advanced Limiters and AutoMix
When recording in unpredictable environments, the F6 provides additional control with Advanced Look-Ahead Hybrid Limiters. Zoom AutoMix software can also help manage input levels across multiple channels, making the F6 a powerful tool for complex field recording setups.
Professional Timecode for Production Workflows
Accurate synchronization is essential when recording separate audio and video. The F6 features integrated timecode I/O with ±0.2 ppm precision, supporting multiple timecode modes, jam synchronization, drop-frame and non-drop-frame operation, and synchronization of the audio clock to timecode. This makes the F6 well suited for film, television, commercial, documentary, and other multi-device production workflows.
Monitor Your Production in the Field
A 1.54-inch full-color 240 × 240 LCD provides visibility in a compact footprint, with a monochromatic display mode for different lighting conditions. Dedicated transport controls put Record, Stop, Pause, and Play within easy reach, while each input has its own level control. A dedicated headphone output provides up to 100mW + 100mW into 32Ω for monitoring on location.
Flexible Power for Location Production
The F6 can operate from four AA batteries, a Sony L-Series battery, or AC power, giving production crews flexibility when working away from an outlet. USB bus power is also supported. Battery life varies significantly depending on recording configuration, phantom power, timecode, display brightness, and monitoring requirements.
USB Audio Interface and Wireless Control
Connect the F6 to a computer and use it as a 6-in/4-out USB audio interface with support for up to 32-bit float/96kHz audio when running firmware version 2.0 or later. The F6 can also record to an SD card while operating as an audio interface at up to 48kHz. With the optional Zoom BTA-1 Bluetooth adapter, the F Control app provides wireless control, file renaming, and metadata entry from an iOS device.
